The wide bladed, thick spine Messermeister Meridian Elite 6” Cleaver is the ideal tool to have for breaking down medium and large cuts of meat. The weight of the Meridian Cleaver along with the sharp edge of the blade is desirable when cutting, chopping, and splitting joints.
Cleavers are not ideal for a slicing motion, but is ideal for crushing garlic, and pulverizing meat. For added strength and balance, the cleaver is forged from a single large blank of steel. For added comfort when using this 6” cleaver, Messermeister went with a bolsterless edge. The triple riveted “POM” handle flows seamlessly into the blade for added comfort when using the cleaver.
Properly caring for your Messermeister knife is very important, and will help extend the life of your blade. Maintaining a sharp edge on your blade and keeping food from drying to it can help prevent injury while using your knife. After you are finished with your knives, clean them with warm soapy water, fully dry, and safely store them in a blade guard, knife block, or an in-drawer storage tray. Do not wash your knives in the dishwasher or let them soak in water.
