The Shun Classic 6" Ultimate Utility Knife is crafted using traditional Japanese knife-making methods, beginning with an exceptionally hard core of VG10 steel. Featuring low-frequency serrations, this unusual blade is the ideal choice to slice delicate thin-skinned vegetables and fruits. With its curved belly, this broad bade allows you to use a rocking motion while cutting, chopping, mincing, dicing and slicing. The rounded tip also proves useful for spreading condiments, making this an excellent sandwich knife, even cutting the sandwich when done!
Masterfully made using the Japanese Kasumi technique of making blades, the strong core of the Shun Classic 6” Ultimate Utility Knife is supported by thirty-two layers of Damascus cladding, with sixteen layers of SUS410/SUS431 stainless steel on each side. Shun’s process and choice of steel produces a blade that slices and glides more easily through foods, resists stain and rust, and creates a mesmerizing rippled pattern across the blade known as suminigashi or “ink pattern.” The razor-sharp blade and full tang offers extraordinary performance and edge retention, as well as notable strength and balance.
Shun’s PakkaWood is formed from resin-treated hardwood and used to construct the ebony-black D-shaped handle that fits naturally and securely in your palm. Sanded and buffed to a glossy appearance, the refined, contemporary handle of the Shun Classic 6” Ultimate Utility Knife delivers superb durability and moisture resistance. Shun cutlery is best if hand-washed for edge retention.
