The Wüsthof 8” Fine Whetstone is the ultimate solution for knife maintenance and honing, with two levels of superfine grains housed in an attractive wooden storage box.
This Wusthof fine whetstone is ideal for removing small nicks and sharpening blunt knives (400 grit) and for normal edge maintenance (1000 grit). For those needing the Japanese grit information, this Wusthof whetstone offers a J1000/J3000 grit.
This whetstone combines two different sides, with 400 grit grain on one side for removing small nicks and to sharpen dull blades, while the 1000 grit side of the stone is ideas for regular maintenance of edges. This whetstone easily accommodates longer blades for sharpening at 8 inches long by over 2 inches wide.
Before each use, soak the whetstone in water for 10 minutes to remove any metal dust, and plan on using water continually throughout the process. Place on a flat surface and hold it steady and stable. Using gentle pressure, draw the edge of the blade over the stone at a 10˚ - 15˚ angle from the blade’s base to tip, then repeat this motion for the other side of the blade. Repeat using the other side of the whetstone to refine the edge as desired. Knives that are well maintained may only require fine honing. The whetstone is put together using a very good bond and open-pore structure that ensures new particles are continually exposed during use. Utilization of the stone’s entire surface while sharpening enables the stone to wear evenly over time.
The Wüsthof Fine Whetstone is intended for use with water only, and not for use with oil. The included wood storage box provides easy storage for the 1 inch thick Wüsthof Fine Whetstone.
The Wüsthof 8” Fine Whetstone carries a lifetime guarantee.
